A One‑Day Trip to Mount Taibai

Climbing Taibai under clear skies, sea of clouds merging with the sky; wind and snow strike all of a sudden, experiencing four seasons within a single day.

Entering the Mountain · Spring

Following the Tangyu ancient trail uphill, thick canopies block the sun while mountain streams murmur on. Wild blossoms burst into full bloom, fragrant wildflowers fill the air, and birds sing deep within the woods, evoking the charm of March in the Jiangnan region.

Three kilometres along the path, looking back, the Guanzhong Plain unfolds far below. Thin mist drapes the land, villages scatter across the terrain, and the Wei River glimmers like a silken ribbon.

Half‑Mountain · Autumn

The cable car cuts through the clouds. In barely fifteen minutes, we step into an entirely different world.

Clouds surge like an ocean, with mountain ridges flickering in and out of sight, like dragons wandering across the heavens. Temperatures drop sharply, chilly air seeps into bones, plants turn golden, and autumn hues blanket the mountains. Tourists pull on extra layers of clothing as they arrive at Heavenly Round Square.

Summit Zone · Winter

Thunderous winds roar, and the whole world shifts its countenance.

Moments later, snowflakes begin to fall. Snow drifts in the middle of summer, covering stone steps and frosting railings. Astonished visitors marvel that this is truly a realm of immortals.

Occasional breaks in the clouds reveal bottomless gorges and dark‑green mountain ranges, bringing the bitter cold of deep winter into full view.

The Ultimate Peak · Panoramic View

Reaching Baxian Platform, at an altitude of 3771 metres.

The clouds part all around. The Qinling Range lies coiled like a giant dragon. Faint threads of the Yellow River and Wei River stretch afar, and the fertile Guanzhong plain spreads for thousands of li.

Within one single day, spring, autumn, winter and summer unfold. Within one step, mountains, rivers, sun and moon come into sight.

Homeward Journey · Lingering Impressions

On the way down, the setting sun slants, gilding snow‑capped peaks and tinting the sea of clouds orange. As the cable car glides downward for thirty minutes, we travel back from wintry snow to spring‑time woods.

The wonder of Mount Taibai lies not in its height or peril, but in its fleeting, ever‑changing grand weather.

Other mountains have four seasons; Mount Taibai holds them all in one day.
